This is, to my recollection, the only boardroom scene where somebody cried. And it was the one person everyone least expected. No, not Mr. Trump. The hot-headed young Chris who was known for having a volatile temper and used it on many episodes that season finally breaks down a weeps when he gets fired. Surprisingly quite touching.

In my effort to keep you abreast of the Google situation, I just received another message from Google Video support:

"Hi Randy,

Thanks for your reply.

We understand that you would like the contact information for the person who requested your videos removed. We have reviewed your counter DMCA complaint and it appears that the original complainant named in your complaint is Ted McKeown and can be reached at NBTV.ca.

Sincerely,
The Google Video Team"

If there was EVER any doubt, it has now officially been removed.

They recommend that in the future I deal directly with Mr. McKeown. However, I have tried and unfortunately he has refused to negotiate. Thus, as I mentioned in a previous post problems may continue to occur. Let's hope that for the viewers' and the contestants' sake, the issue can finally be put to rest.

First Four Apprentice Episodes Back Up on Google

Good news and bad news folks!

The good news is that the first four episodes of the North Bay Apprentice have been put back up on Google. Here is what Google Video Support had to say in an e-mail to me dated Monday, November 13th:

"Hi Randy,

In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have completed processing your infringement counter complaint dated 10/27/2006. Your videos have been reinstated in the Google Video index. Please let us know if we can assist you further.

Sincerely,
The Google Video Team"

Consider this a WIN for the good guys.

As you are probably aware by now, the reason they were removed is that Ted McKeown of NBTV.ca, the former camera person for the show, mistakenly thought (and still thinks) HE owned the rights to the episodes and filed a claim of "copyright infringement."

Google, trying to cover its behind, removed the videos. Then, upon my counter-complaint, they reinstated them.

The bad news? This might continue to happen if Mr. McKeown persists in his efforts to have future episodes removed.

Lawyers ARE already involved and it may soon be out of my hands legally as far as what happens to NBTV.

In the meantime, trust that I will do whatever it takes to make the episodes available to you, the fans of the show, whether it be on Google, Yahoo, YouTube, VidiLife or elsewhere.

One other thing is being done to rectify this situation. The domains northbayapprentice.com and northbayapprentice.ca have been registered and a website will be erected eventually to host the videos so this problem can never occur again.

Let's hope we can finally put this issue to rest and look forward to the future success of The North Bay Apprentice without fear of sabotage.

It was a Sad Day on The North Bay Apprentice!

Hello all you N-BAFs,

Since ths IS a blog - an online diary - I thought I would share how I am feeling at the moment.

Yesterday was the hardest boardroom to date. The person that got fired was pretty torn up about it and, on my way home, I came to a realization. I began this show to help out an entrepreneur. And what I realized is that, although in the end I may help ONE person, I will have HURT 8 other people in the process. I never thought of it that way before - until now.

As well, because of the problems I'm having with Ted McKeown of NBTV, it would be really easy for me to just say "the heck with it" and not do a second season. Then, I see posts on the fansite in support of the show and it makes me feel good that maybe the show IS making a difference.

And wouldn't not doing a second season be like letting Ted win since he's working a lot harder to sabatoge the show than he ever did filming it?

These questions weigh heavily on my mind and will definitely influence whether or not I decide to do a second season.

Thoughts on Episode 2

So after watching Episode 2, what do you think, folks?

Was I too hard on Cory? Were you surprised that Jonathan was a "mole?" What do you think of Chris's excuse for being late? How do you feel toward Kim and Penny? (They actually do a lot more than what you see on camera - by the way.)
